Competitions
Overview

Competitions are trading contests that run on the tread.fi terminal for various eligible exchanges. You enter with one of your linked exchange accounts, trade as you normally would, and get scored against everyone else in the field at the end of every scoring period. Each scoring period rewards points to the traders who finish near the top, and when the competition closes the ten highest cumulative point totals split the prize fund.
Two Important Notes:
You are ranked twice per scoring period, once on traded volume and once on PnL. Both boards pay points independently, so a strong period on both is worth double.
Consistency beats one big session. Points only land on periods you actually trade. A skipped period is a period scored at zero.
How It Works
Enter. Each competition has an eligible exchange. Ensure you have at least one connected account for that exchange before entering. Entry is permanent for the duration of that competition.
Trade through tread.fi. Execute at least 90% of your volume for the competition-eligible exchange on tread to stay eligible throughout the duration of the competition.
Get ranked every epoch. At the end of each scoring period you are scored twice, on volume and on PnL. Competitions scoring cadence is set per competition.
Bank points. The top 1% / 10% / 25% of each race earn +5 / +3 / +1 for that period.
Show up again. Points only accrue on periods you trade, so consistency compounds.
Split the fund. At the close, the ten highest point totals share the prize fund.
Entering a Competition
You have to manually enter a competition and entry is active for the duration of that competition. Only the account you choose is scored, and you cannot switch it afterwards. If you trade across several accounts for a given exchange, enter with the one you intend to actually run the competition on.
A few rules govern who can enter:
One entry per user, per competition. You cannot enter twice.
One exchange address per competition. If an address is already enrolled by another user, it cannot be entered again.
You can enter a live competition at any point before it closes. Epochs that finished before you entered are not backfilled, so entering late costs you those periods' points.
Eligibility: Routing Through tread.fi
Entering is not the same as being scored. In each epoch, a trader is only ranked if:
They trade some volume on that participating address.
At least 90% of that exchange's volume was executed on tread.fi.
For example, if the competition is on Hyperliquid and you traded $10,000 on Hyperliquid over the competition so far but only $5,000 of it was executed on tread.fi, your volume ratio is 50% and therefore you will not be eligible for a competition ranking. You will still appear on the board with your volume shown, but you will not earn points.
The ratio is measured on cumulative volume over the competition window, not on a single epoch, so an off-platform session earlier in the competition continues to weigh on your ratio until your tread.fi volume catches up.
Prize Fund
The amount currently on the table. The fund is progressive: it grows as the whole field trades more volume. Level 1 is unlocked from the start, and each further level unlocks when the community's combined competition volume crosses that level's threshold.
The fund is the highest unlocked level only, not the sum of the levels. Crossing into Level 3 replaces the Level 2 figure, it does not add to it.
Projected points
On the Points tab, your strip shows a live projection of what the current epoch would pay if it settled right now. It is computed on exactly the same basis the settle uses: your rank among currently eligible traders on both races, scored with the same bands. It is an estimate, not a commitment, and it moves as other traders trade.
Trader names
Wallet logins are shown as a shortened address (
0x1234…abcd) with the chain's logo. Full addresses are never published to the board.
Scoring
The Races
Every epoch is scored on its own, and both boards reset at each epoch boundary. Eligible traders are ranked twice:
Volume race ranks on your total volume on the competition's exchange, measured over the whole competition window.
PnL race ranks on that epoch's percentage return, measured as a flow-adjusted equity return so that deposits and withdrawals don't count as performance. Equal returns are broken by who traded more volume, so a parked account cannot share a band with an active one.
The Point Bands
Each race pays based on the same ladder:
Top 1%
+5
Top 10%
+3
Top 25%
+1
Below top 25%
0
Bands are rounded up, so every band always has at least one place in it even in a small field. The bands are exclusive: finishing in the top 1% pays 5, not 5 + 3 + 1.
The two races are scored separately. Landing in the Top 1% on both boards in the same epoch means you would earn 5+5=10 points in total.
Settlement
Points settle at the end of every epoch, scored from that epoch's data, and once settled are final. For most competitions that is once a day at 00:00 UTC, but always check the stamp above the standings for the cadence of the competition you are in. Until an epoch settles, its points exist only as the projection.
Winning
When the competition closes, the ten highest cumulative point totals split the prize fund. Cumulative points are the sum of every award across both races.
Ties on points are broken on total volume over the competition window.
Data Freshness
Volume and PnL on the board come from the exchange's own fill data and refresh roughly every ten minutes. The board can therefore trail your most recent trades by a few minutes. The Last updated stamp above the standings tells you how stale the current numbers are.
This lag affects the board display and the live projection. It does not affect settled points, which are scored from a complete snapshot at the end of each epoch.
Epochs: When Points Settle
An epoch is a competition's scoring period. It is the clock that everything else runs on: both leaderboards reset at each epoch boundary, the volume and PnL columns only count activity since the last boundary, and points are awarded when the epoch closes.
Each competition sets its own epoch, so do not assume the cadence carries over from a competition you have run before.
Daily epochs (the standard). Most competitions run 24-hour epochs anchored to to some specified timing of that day
Shorter epochs. A competition can run a faster cycle. Shorter epochs are anchored to the competition's own start time, not to midnight. A 6-hour epoch on a competition that opens at 08:00 UTC settles at 14:00, 20:00, 02:00, and 08:00 UTC, and keeps that rhythm for the whole window.
The epoch is fixed at launch. A competition's cadence cannot change once it has started, so the schedule you see on day one holds until it closes.
The Rules panel at the foot of the board is the authority for epoch cadence and any other specific rules for that contest. Read competion-specific rules thoroughly before you enter a contest.
Because the epoch drives the reset, a shorter epoch means your volume and PnL columns clear more often. Ranking near the top of a fast-cycling competition takes a steadier presence, not a bigger single session.
